Los certificados de profesionalidad, regulados por el Real Decreto 34/2008, de 18 de enero, son el instrumento de acreditación oficial de las cualificaciones profesionales del Catálogo Nacional de Cualificaciones Profesionales en el ámbito de la administración laboral. Estos certificados acreditan el conjunto de competencias profesionales, que capacitan para el desarrollo de una actividad laboral identificable en el sistema productivo. Tienen carácter oficial y validez en todo el territorio nacional y son expedidos por el Servicio Público de Empleo Estatal (SEPE) y los órganos competentes de las Comunidades Autónomas. Se obtienen a través de dos vías:
