New project Erasmus +: European Open Badges Platform

El proyecto European Open Badges Platform (EU-OBP) (2019-1-RO01-KA204-063793) It intended to evaluate, develop and promote a common EU platform for hosting digital badges, aimed at adult education organizations, educators and students as a target audience of the project.

Open badges (Open Badges), are shaped icon files or medal, which they are issued to demonstrate the ability or achievement of a person. The file contains the following metadata: issuer name, criteria under which issued, evidence verification and expiration date logo. Open logos are available as an open standard procedure, any organization can create, issue and verify digital badges.

The main advantage of open badges is their availability and opportunities for representation. They are an innovative tool for the recognition of soft skills, They can be used both by employers as trainers, and also be included in the European system of Europass Curriculum.

Purpose

The common platform will allow digital badges

  • Organizations offering adult education digital badges to your target audience and at European level,
  • Trainers to acquire technical skills and innovative tools for the recognition of soft skills and key competencies,
  • That adults who receive training courses receive badges with recognition at European level and help them future job searches or future training needs.

target groups

The project meets the needs of training institutions and trainers of adults to have a digital tool, motivating and easy to use to identify and document non-formal learning outcomes, Informal and formal. The project also meets the needs of adult learners to reflect on the skills acquired, documenting and easily share their achievements with their peers, educators and potential employers.

Objetivos

  • The EU-OBP project aims to update results 2 Erasmus projects + (iYOT, www.iyot.eu and Obade, www.open-badges.eu) with the participation of organizations previously included and two new partners.
  • Project partners investigated, platforms and organizations available to complete the EU-OBP platform with »Reader«, "Tools", "Guides", all available as open source.
  • The partners want to promote open badges for the recognition of soft skills and 8 key skills at European level, and anticipate less 500 badges available until the end of the project.

 

The project will provide participating organizations, por un lado, a number of good practices and tools and methodologies as relevant to the current situation in the EU. Por otro lado, they will also provide a series of documents (reader, tools and guides) which can facilitate the beginning of a transformation towards promoting the use of open credentials and its importance for open education and transparency for future employers, which increases the social impact of the project.
